Elections for the European Parliament
On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the elections for the European Parliament will take place in the Netherlands.
Residents of all 27 countries that belong to the European Union (EU) can vote for the European Parliament. In other EU countries, elections may also be on June 7, 8 or 9, 2024. See elections.europa.eu/nl/ to find out the date of the elections in all EU countries.
Elections of the European Parliament are held every 5 years.
Citizen voting for the election as a non-Dutch
On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the elections for the European Parliament will take place in the Netherlands. You have the option to choose which country you wish to vote for: the Netherlands or the country of which you are a national.
If you choose to vote for the Netherlands, you will be voting for Dutch members of the European Parliament. You will no longer be able to vote for the country of which you are a national! You can only vote for one country.

Register for elections 2029
Applications for the 2024 European Parliament election were possible until April 23, 2024. You can already register at the office for the 2029 European Parliament election.
You only have to register once. Your registration only ends if you move abroad.
Conditions
You can vote for the European Parliament in the Netherlands if you meet the following conditions:
- You have the nationality of an EU country;
- You are 18 years or older on June 6, 2024;
- You live in the municipality of Groningen;
- You are not excluded from the right to vote.
To the office
You can visit the Centrum Office (Kreupelstraat 1) and fill out the application form. The Centrum Office is open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, and on Thursdays until 19:00.
Remember to bring your passport or identity card.
I want to vote for the country of which I am a national
If you wish to vote for the country of which you are a national, you do not need to apply at the municipality. For more information on how to vote for the country of which you are a national, see the website of the European Parliament.
